TAAPCS Welcomes John Picard As New Executive Director

October 29th, 2019, Calgary, AB – Public charter schools proudly provide educational service to parents
and students within Alberta’s public education system, giving voice to Albertans’ shared vision for
education.

The Association of Alberta Public Charter Schools (TAAPCS) is delighted to announce that John Picard is
our new Executive Director.
John comes to this position with a long history in educational leadership. Having been an active
superintendent of two Alberta public charter schools, he is closely connected with the public charter
school and education community in Alberta. His focus on authentic relationships and passion for the
success of Alberta students will make a strong contribution to TAAPCS.

John’s initial focus will be on the helping TAAPCS contribute to the Alberta government work, creating
effective and sustainable funding and declaring the new Choice In Education Act next spring.
